Frequently Asked Questions
1. Will I feel confident enough to facilitate sound baths after completing the course?

Our training is designed to give you the practical skills, knowledge and confidence to begin facilitating your own sound baths. Throughout the two days, you'll learn how to select and play instruments, create flowing soundscapes, structure sessions and provide a comfortable, safe environment for participants.

Confidence develops differently for everyone, and we encourage students to continue practising after the course. Our aim is for you to leave feeling well-prepared, with a clear understanding of how to develop your skills further.

2. Do I need any previous experience?

No previous experience of sound therapy is required. Our course is suitable for complete beginners as well as existing wellbeing practitioners looking to introduce sound baths into their services.

Everything is taught in a clear, practical and accessible way, allowing you to develop your knowledge and skills throughout the training.

3. Do I need to be musical or know how to play an instrument to attend the course?

Absolutely not! You don't need any musical ability, previous experience or knowledge of how to play an instrument to attend our Sound Therapy Practitioner Training.

We recognise that many students will never have played a gong, singing bowl or other sound therapy instrument before. All the instruments we use are accessible to beginners, and you'll have plenty of opportunities to explore them and develop your playing techniques throughout the course.

Learning to play an instrument confidently and skilfully takes time and practice, and we certainly don't expect you to master every instrument over two days.

Our practical assessment focuses primarily on your ability to facilitate a safe, comfortable and enjoyable sound bath, rather than your musical ability or technical proficiency.

This includes how you welcome participants, provide clear instructions and guidance, handle instruments with care, and move calmly and thoughtfully throughout the session to minimise unwanted noise and distractions.

We place particular emphasis on being gentle and deliberate in your movements, creating a smooth and continuous soundscape, and maintaining a relaxing environment for participants.

Our aim is to help you develop the practical skills and confidence to facilitate sound baths effectively, regardless of your musical background.

4. Will I get enough time to practise using the instruments?

Absolutely! We deliberately limit our courses to a maximum of six participants to ensure everyone receives plenty of hands-on experience and individual attention.

You'll have opportunities to explore and practise using a wide range of instruments, including gongs, crystal and Tibetan singing bowls, chimes and other sound therapy instruments.

Practical learning is central to our approach, and our small groups mean you won't spend the course simply watching demonstrations.

5. What exactly does the qualification allow me to do?

Upon successfully completing the course and demonstrating the required competencies, you'll receive a certificate of competence from UK Holistic Training. Our training is accredited by the International Practitioners of Holistic Medicine (IPHM).

The course prepares you to facilitate group sound baths and individual sound relaxation sessions, within the scope of your training and competence.

Your certificate can be presented to insurers when applying for appropriate professional insurance. Insurance acceptance and cover are determined by individual providers.

Sound therapy is a complementary wellbeing practice, and this qualification does not authorise you to diagnose or treat medical conditions.

6. What happens if I cannot attend?

We understand that circumstances can change. However, places on our courses are limited to just six participants, and your booking reserves a place that may otherwise have been offered to someone else.

Course bookings are subject to our cancellation and refund policy, which we recommend reading carefully before booking.

If you're unable to attend, please contact us as soon as possible so we can discuss your circumstances and any available options. Any cancellation, refund or transfer will be handled in accordance with our booking terms and your statutory rights.

7. Is the training worth the investment?

We believe our training offers excellent value, particularly because of the individual attention and practical experience available in our small groups of no more than six participants.

Rather than simply learning about instruments and sound therapy in theory, you'll spend two days developing the practical skills, knowledge and confidence needed to plan and facilitate your own sound baths.

You'll also receive a comprehensive training manual and access to tutorial videos, providing valuable resources to revisit after completing the course. These materials allow you to refresh your knowledge, revisit techniques and continue developing your skills and confidence at your own pace.

Our aim is to provide much more than a two-day training experience. We want you to leave with a strong foundation, practical experience and ongoing learning resources to support your development as a sound therapy practitioner.

For those wishing to offer sound baths professionally, the course provides a foundation for developing your own complementary wellbeing service.
